Mission Hills Backyard Remodel

In early 2020, team Lakewood joined forces with design professionals MRH Interiors to tackle a backyard remodel in Historic Mission Hills. With our Project Engineer Dylan taking the lead, we transformed a simple backyard into an exciting new outdoor entertainment area for our clients.

Scope of Work: Demolition and clearing the dated backyard features left our team with a blank canvas to discuss design elements and tailor the project details to fit our clients needs. Starting with the ground up infrastructure, we included a new drainage system, in ground and sconce lighting, electrical outlets, and gas and water lines for the BBQ island. From there, landscape, hardscape, travertine, and tile began and the finished product we had envisioned started to take shape. Most notably, the flooring consisted 1600SF of rustic Travertine Tile and the BBQ and Stair Risers were fitted with a custom pattern of Decorative Ceramic Tile.

Amongst the Travertine floors, this backyard also received a brand new Pool and Spa featuring Pebble Tech Flooring and retractable pool covers.

Additionally, this remodel boasted a new Slatted Redwood Fence treated with a hand applied finishing oil that brought out the vibrancy of the wood's natural color. The exterior of the house received some attention as well, with a new Color/Texture Stucco coat and a fresh coat of paint on stairs, handrails, and trim, however, this process proved to be more than a simple facelift. Due to the historical designation of the home, we were tasked with matching the exact Stucco color and fine details in the texture to match the original Prairie Style with Mission Revival Influence.

Along the way of the construction process, the owners decided to make interior upgrades to their home as well, and turned to Lakewood to install a Mini Split AC system and perform electrical upgrades for their kitchen.

Finally, this job was appointed with impressive finish features such as a Stainless Steel BBQ, a Flush Mounted Deep Basin Sink, Concrete CounterTop, Market Lighting, and new outdoor furniture creating a beautiful and inviting outdoor living space.
